Model Management with MOVE

by Lars von Wedel last modified 2006-07-26 12:17

Models are a valuable resource in today‘s processing industry. The Model Organization and Versioning Environment MOVE helps you to use models more efficiently.

Solve problems quicker — Reuse your models

Your models contain valuable information about your processes. When you are faced with a new modeling or analysis problem, MOVE facilitates your work by allowing for quick access to relevant models and associated documentation. You can easily

  • review assumptions about the process,
  • use validated physical property models,
  • use an existing model as a starting point for a new modeling task,
  • avoid dead ends encountered in previous modeling tasks.

In the best case, you simply run your simulation with an existing model.

Establish a company-wide database of models

MOVE stores all relevant information about the models developed throughout your company in a database accessible to anyone who is granted appropriate permission. Access to this information only requires a standard web browser. The access rights are highly customizable. Define different groups of users who may

  • search for models,
  • download models, and
  • import and administer models.

Improve your modeling workflow

Even a single user can gain productivity in modeling because MOVE allows you to

  • track the history of your model, and
  • manage different versions of a model.

MOVE Features

  • Central database
  • Web-based access, no need to install client software
  • Automatic import of Aspen Plus models (.inp and .bkp formats)

Technology

  • Proven database and web technology (Plone and Zope)
  • Open standards (XML)

Beyond storage...

Model management is more than just storing a predefined set of model information. AixCAPE can adjust the system to your specific needs (e.g. file formats, workflow), integrate with other systems (e.g. in-house simulators, property databases, CAD systems) and supports you in setting up the system on your site. Many of these solutions are developed based on research results from Process Systems Engineering (LPT) at RWTH Aachen.
